Healthy Baby Report

Yesterday was Luke's belated 15-month well-baby exam. (His lucky doctor just got back from a summer in Italy.) Here are the stats:

Weight: 26.68 pounds (74th percentile)
Height: 32.09 inches (72d percentile)
Head Circumference: 19.13 inches (83d percentile)

So the big news is that his growth has finally slowed down. Ever since he was four months old his height and weight have mostly been above the 90th percentile. It was pretty amazing, really, since when he was born he was only around the 10th percentile; by two months he had hit the 80th in weight. We were worried he was going to be taller than either of us by the time he hit middle school. (Of course he still may!)

So now he has fallen down a notch on the growth curve. Obviously he's still well above the average size for his age, but he's not pushing the envelope anymore.

Overall the doc said Luke is doing great. She was impressed with his language development. As soon as she came in and sat down at her computer she was able to have a whole conversation with him:

Luke (smiling): "Hi!"

Doc: "Hi!"

Luke reaches for the computer keyboard.

Doc: "Do you like to play with the computer?"

Luke: "Naahhhhh!"

The next visit will be in December, when he's a little over 18 months.

p.s. New words: "up" and "bot-bot" (for robot, though we're not sure whether this one will stick).
