Doc Update

Ok, here's the promised update from Luke's two-month doctor appointment today. Drumroll, please...

Weight on 7/24: 13.01 pounds (80th percentile)
Weight on 7/10: 11.77 pounds (72nd percentile)
Weight on 6/9: 8.29 pounds (32nd percentile)
Weight at birth: 6.9 pounds (10th percentile)

Height on 7/24: 23.86 inches (82nd percentile)
Height on 6/9: 19.45 inches (8th percentile)

Head circumference on 7/24: 15.5 inches (35th percentile)
Head circumference on 6/9: 14.17 inches (24th percentile)

In summary: he's a very big boy. Please note that the pediatrician said that both the height and head circumference measurements can be highly inaccurate. For example, she was questioning the nurse's initial head measurements today, which would have put him in the 91st percentile in that category. When the doc re-measured, Luke ended up in the 35th percentile. So don't read too much into either of those.

The only small issue the Doctor pointed out was that Lucas prefers to turn his head to the right while lying on his back. This has caused his neck muscles to tighten up on the left side, and he now resists turning his head all the way to the left when lying down. It should resolve itself by six months or so when he can sit up, but in the meantime we're giving him neck massages to try to loosen things up. We're also putting his head at the other end of his crib so that he has to look to his left to look out into the room, and we've moved his toys (like the beloved lion mobile) to his left as well.

Those are some impressive stats! No wonder he has that settled-in comfy baby look now.
