Joshua is six months old today!
At his well-baby visit we got the following stats:
Weight: 19.18 lbs (80th percentile)
Height: 28.31 in. (96th percentile)
Head circumf.: 17.6 in. (77th percentile)
Hmm, does any of that sound familiar? Oh wait -- at his six-month well-baby exam, Lucas had exactly the same weight and height percentiles!!! Frankly, we are a little creeped out by that.
At each of these well-child visits you fill out an "ages and stages questionnaire" to gauge how well the baby is developing. Can he pass a toy from one hand to the other? Does he look towards your voice when you say "hi" from the other end of the room? Can he roll over and back? Etc. For 6-month olds, one of the "personal/social" questions is "when on back, does your baby put his foot in his mouth?" Joshua had never done this before, but he does play with his feet all the time; we just assumed he couldn't make it all the way to his mouth because he's too fat! We also found it pretty weird that sticking your foot in your mouth would be considered a "personal/social" skill. Anyhow, we checked "no" and he lost some points on the quiz, but he still passed. We mentioned all this to the doc and she thought it was pretty funny.
Then, exactly one minute after she left the exam room, Joshua grabbed his foot and stuck it in his mouth!
We emailed the doc after we left to announce this exciting development and she responded: "He must have finally finished reading the developmental pediatrics textbook."
Overall the doctor says Joshua is doing great.

Joshie is one smart baby!
