Monday at the pool, Lucas and I were chilly popsicles when it was time to get out. Rather than walk a long way to the lobby and back in our dripping swimsuits to get the family locker room key, I brought Lucas into the women's locker room. A sign on the door says "Boys over age 5 must use men's locker room". Not clear whether they mean boys that have had their fifth birthday, or boys that are six. Regardless, I hustled him into a hot shower and closed his curtain while I went to put my clothes on. When I got back and said "are you done, Lucas?" he whispered fiercely, "Mom! don't call me that! Call me 'Daisy' so everyone will think I'm a girl!"
Last night at dinner, Lucas eyed his brother and made an announcement.
L: He doesn't look like a Joshua.
D: What does he look like??
L: (after some thought) He looks like an Alex.
When I pick Joshua up at daycare, I typically greet him with "Hi boo-boo!", my nickname du jour for him. Yesterday when I arrived, he gave me a big grin and said "Hiiii boo boo!" to me!
