4 year checkup -- look at these stats:
Height: 44.5 in. (99%)
Weight: 40.5 lbs. (84%)
That is one TALL boy. We talked a little about his slipping weight, and although the doctor wasn't concerned about it at all, she did say that for such a boy it might be OK to have a little ice cream every so often.
This conversation was strategically timed early on in the visit to build trust in somebody who was very worried about getting shots. In fact, he ended up getting three of them, and he was not happy about that. The good news is that he won't need any more shots until he's 10! (You can get nasal spray instead of flu shots these days.)
Later that night Lucas recounted the experience in the bathtub, with dad playing the role of the patient and Lucas the doctor.
D: What advice do you have for me, doctor?
L: You can only eat lollipops and cookies. You should eat 59 lollipops!
D: Really? Just lollipops and cookies?
L: Yes, only lollipops and cookies. You could also eat something called an AS-PAR-A-GUS.
D: That's very helpful, doctor. Anything else?
L: Now I will give you a lot of pokes!!!!
He then maniacally thrust his pointer fingers at my arms and chest over and over and over....
