Tonight Lucas opened a new package of play money, which he's very interested in. He put it in his new pencil case and called it his purse, and said he was going to Meijers. I set out a bunch of his play veggies, boxes, and canned goods on the couch and called it the store, then put a calculator on a chair and called it the checkout lane. He loved the game and we took turns shopping, being the clerk, and bagging the items.
L: (as clerk) Ready mama? check out?
J: Ok, I've finished my shopping. How much are these tomatoes?
L: Two.
J: How about the cake mix?
L: Umm, two.
J: And this okra? and the can of peas?
L: Two. Two.
J: Ok, what's my total?
L: Two.
J: Two dollars? Wow, what a bargain.
L: You want this one? (offers me a book of twenty-dollar bills worth at least $200)
J: Hm, I don't know...how much is it?
L: Two!
J: An offer I can't refuse. I'll take it.
Later in the game, as he was bagging my groceries (and attempting to run a $20 bill through the calculator like a credit card reader), Lucas said "go see lobsters?" and showed me where they were (an indiscriminate spot on the living room floor). I ooo-d and ah-ed over them and asked what that thing on their claws was? Lucas said "rubber bands." Then as he handed me my sundries he said...
L: Go ride the pony!
J: Ok, can you give me a penny?
L: Here go. (hands me a $10 bill)
