Party talk

We went to a "fall reception" party for Dad's work today, to mark the start of a new school year. Luke must have been studying the manners and customs of the new-academic-year reception-goer because at one point, when he and I sat down at an empty table to eat some appetizers, he decided to make smalltalk

L: What's your name?
D: I'm Dada. What's your name?
L: I'm Lucas
(pause)
L: What's your name?
D: Um, I'm dada
L: Be right back. I have to go
to the restroom

He rushed off at that point. It's good that he has already learned how to extricate himself from an awkward conversation. You learn that at academic parties.

Good job, Luke. I need to remember that line for the future!
