One day this summer we were biking to daycare and Dad saw a couple of CDs on the road. Luke was in a bad mood and he likes to play with CDs so I stopped to pick them up and gave them to him. I assumed they were too scratched to play (which I took to be a feature rather than a bug) but that night he put one in his CD player and it started playing a hip hop song called "Like a G6" that has some totally inappropriate lyrics. Ooops.
Last week after we watched the marching band at the football game we followed them to their practice building, and once they had wrapped up and we starting walking home we heard some really loud music coming from a party across the practice field. "Hey, I have that song!" Lucas exclaimed. You can guess what it was.

no, no, no!!!!!!
Makes me nostalgic for baby days, when you could put him in his crib, the only bottles he knew of contained Similac, and his favorite songs were something like "This Old Man!"
To call the autotuned "Like a G6" hip hop is an insult to the genre :) There's a reason it was on the side of the road.
So I actually researched this. The most common category it gets assigned to is "Electro Hop" aka "Electro Hip Hop". Since grandmas read the blog I didn't want to get too technical (!) -- plus, some people do seem to call it just "Hip Hop"; and when the floods come will all these genre subdivisions really be that significant?
Agreed about the side of the road comment though. Google the lyrics; wow. "Look at what an awesome poser I am ladies I'm so fly because I buy overpriced drug dealer champagne and my nonexistent plane has a bigger number than Drake's!"
Too technical????
technocal?
