Soufflé

Mom had a doctor's appointment tonight so she and I had adult dinner after Lucas went to bed. Luke asked me why I wasn't eating while I sat with him at the table during his dinner.

L: You eat dinner too, dada?
D: Mommy and I are going to eat dinner after you go to bed. That's why I'm looking in these cookbooks. I'm going to make us soufflés for dinner.
L: I eat soufflé too?
D: Well, I don't know if you'd like them, and that's why I thought tonight would be a good night for mommy and I to have them for dinner since we're eating later.
L: Soufflé are not for children?
D: Well, yeah, a lot of children don't like soufflé, though some do.
L: Big kids eat soufflés?
D: Even big kids don't usually like soufflés, though some do.
L: Soufflés are for grownups?
D: Well, yeah, grownups are more likely to like them. But even some grownups don't like soufflés.
L: Grandpas eat soufflé?
D: Well, again, some grandpas like them but some grandpas don't.
L: I want to eat soufflé sometimes!

Sometimes as a parent you're just not sure what the right answer is so you end up sounding sort of weird and confused.
