Eagle

Luke and his friends took a walk in the neighborhood today. On the walk back, one house away from Gretchen's House, Luke pointed at the neighbor's yard and said "Eagle!" Christa (his teacher) didn't think much of it -- she assumed he'd seen a squirrel or something -- but when she looked around the corner of a bush there was a real live eagle standing on the lawn. And a big one too!

The eagle quickly flew off and landed in a tree at the edge of the kids' playground. They all ran over to look at it in the tree for a minute or two, and then it flew away.

I picked Luke up about 15 minutes after all this excitement, and as soon as I walked out to the yard the first thing he said to me was "eagle!" Ali and Arthur rushed up to tell me about the eagle too.

Pretty cool!

Lucas is quite a bird watcher! He knows owls, and now eagles.

Bob would be very pleased. Has anyone seen an eagle in AA before? That sounds unusual.

I've heard of occasional sitings near the river here, but never in a residential neighborhood. And especially not on someone's lawn!
