Lucas often asks us what we think about things that hurt, stink, or annoy him in other ways. For example, when he skinned his knee two weeks ago we had to disinfect it with an alcohol swab. It stung like mad, of course, and despite our warning that it would hurt he was really shocked by it. After he calmed down enough to talk, practically the first thing out of his mouth was, "Dada like it?" He wanted to know if I like it when I put rubbing alcohol on my cuts. He asked the same thing last time he got a shot at the doctor's office, and when we smelled a skunk a couple weeks ago he also asked whether I liked it.
I guess they're reasonable questions. Sometimes we like to eat things that he finds disgusting, like really spicy foods, so maybe he's worried that we're just masochists.

I think he just needs reassurance that it's okay to have negative feelings about some things - needs to know adults do, too.
Well said, Grandma! That's a huge developmental thing for this age.
You two need to entertain more seriously the possibility that he just thinks we're weird
