Happy Father's Day to all the new dads, old dads, future dads, and dads that don't know they're dads but are. Also to both of our dads - - we wish you could see your bouncing baby grandson.
Lucas is doing great! He's three weeks and two days old today. At his 17 day checkup, he had gained over a pound and a half (almost 25% of his body weight!) and jumped from the 10th percentile to the 32nd for weight.
This weekend was a big adventure for Luke! Particularly Saturday. We started out with a long walk to the farmer's market, where we tested the capacity of the basket below the stroller by stuffing it with strawberries, parsnips, mizuna greens, garlic shoots, fresh mozarella, and lots of other goodies. We then strolled over to Zingerman's for lunch (Jill trusted that the professionalism of the Zing team would keep them from spitting in her food after the recent decision by the Historic District Commission to deny their request to demo two historic buildings on their site). After the long ride home, the three of us then went to meet Luke's new friend, the beautiful Lauren, who was born only 1o days before he was, and at the same hospital! Then we made grilled pizza for friends and went down to the outdoor beergarden at the Corner Brewery for a little while, making a quick stop at Top of the Park on the way home. We then wondered why the baby didn't get to sleep for four hours. Whoops! But he did seem to enjoy his first big outing in the beautiful weather and his cozy stroller.

* Luke's awake time has surged by 436%!
* Luke smiles sometimes when he is sleeping!
* Luke's kitten still loves him! (see left)
* Luke is already maxing out the capacity of his bottles! (Once he actually exceeded it -- time to get bigger bottles!)
* Luke LOVES music!
* Luke had his first full-body (i.e. post-umbilical cord falling off) bath today!
* Luke has ALREADY outgrown his smallest onesies! (His size 0 diapers are also bursting at the seams; luckily they are almost gone!)
* Luke made Dad a handprint for his father's day card!
That's the Lucas update for this Sunday, June 15, 2008.
